On The Strip:

This show is a light and sound show, coupled with the fountain display. It takes place in front of the Bellagio Hotel and is enjoyable for all ages. Fountain runs Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to midnight and Saturday and Sunday noon to midnight. The fountain displays every half hour until 7 p.m. and every 15 minutes after that until midnight. Fountains are occasionally closed during periods of high winds.

For those looking for a great thrill, add the Big Shot ride on your things to do in Vegas at the Stratosphere hotel. This ride will launch you 160 feet straight up in a mere 2.5 seconds with a speed of about 45 mph, which is basically 4Gs of force. Then drop to 0Gs and bungee up and down to return back to the launch pad. Beware that this ride is not for the faint of heart!

Named one of the Top 10 Construction Achievements of the 20th Century, Hoover Dam continues to draw crowds more than 70 years after its creation. Attracting more than a million visitors a year, Hoover Dam is located in Black Canyon. Tours of the Dam and Power Plant are available. The view from the dam also offers a breathtaking look at Lake Mead, the country's largest man-made reservoir.

Lake Mead is the 16th largest man-made lake in the world and the largest man-made lake in the Western Hemisphere. It was created by the Hoover Dam along the Colorado River. It occupies about 1.5 million acres – twice as much as Rhode Island – and about 820 miles of shoreline. The National Park Service established Lake Mead as a national recreation area in 1964. Lake Mead offers year-round recreation, everything from boating to swimming to hiking to wildlife viewing. Facilities include eight campgrounds, five motels, seven RV campgrounds with hookups, five marinas, boat and jet ski rentals, beaches, restaurants, cafes, snack bars and a visitors center.

Jagged, rugged, severe, beautiful, sublime – these are perfect descriptions of Death Valley National Park. ‘Surprising' is also a good word for the greater Death Valley area. There are desiccated and colorful desert vistas everywhere. Geological history is on full display. But there are also lush pockets of green plant life, Old West remnants and funky contemporary enclaves in this bigger-than-big wonderland.

Grand is an understatement. Glorious, exalted, divinely inspired — all are more apropos adjectives to describe THE canyon. One glimpse of its majesty is all it takes to understand why the Grand Canyon is considered one of the natural wonders of the world. The canyon is a staggering 277 miles long. At its deepest, it is about a mile from the rim to the Colorado River far below and it is as much as 18 miles wide in some spots. The park encompasses 1,904 square miles and visibility on a good day can reach up to 100 miles. The beauty and vibrant colors of the rocks, the mighty river flowing through the center and the wide variety of plant and animal life that inhabit the canyon combine to make it a spot that 5 million people from around the world visit each year.
